County Cost Consultants began with one man’s vision and determination. In January 2000, Alex Clapp founded County with the ambition to build a company that delivered tailored, high quality cost consultancy services. Driven by his passion for the legal profession and his belief in the importance of clear and transparent cost management, Alex laid the foundations for what would become a thriving organisation.
2000 – Establishing the Foundations
Starting any business is no small feat, and Alex faced the typical challenges of launching a company in a competitive field. Working long hours and juggling multiple responsibilities, he was determined to make County Cost a name synonymous with professionalism and trust. Early on, he focused on building relationships, acquiring clients, and establishing County as a reliable partner for legal cost consultancy.
2005 – Growing the Team in Birkenhead
By 2005, County had established itself in Birkenhead, operating with a small but dedicated team. The business was growing steadily, with Alex often reflecting on how each new client was a result of persistence and word of mouth referrals. These years required a hands on approach, building relationships, delivering results, and ensuring every client felt valued.
2010 – Expanding into Liverpool City Centre
With an increasing client base and reputation, County made the strategic decision to move to Liverpool City Centre in 2010. This relocation symbolised the company’s growing prominence in the industry. Alex wanted to position County as a leading firm, a goal that required both physical and professional growth. The team expanded, and the company embraced new challenges with enthusiasm.
2015 – International Expansion to Gibraltar
County took a bold step in 2015, entering the international market with an expansion into Gibraltar. This move reflected Alex’s forward thinking leadership and his ability to adapt to new opportunities. It was a milestone that marked County’s evolution from a regional consultancy into a firm capable of meeting global demands.
2020 – A New Chapter at Mann Island
In 2020, County relocated to Mann Island, a modern and vibrant location in Liverpool that reflected the company’s future conscious ethos. Alex championed the importance of supporting the team, creating opportunities for staff to pursue professional qualifications and advance their careers. With six qualified cost lawyers, more staff in the process of qualification, and two newly appointed Directors, both Accredited Trainers, County continues to grow and evolve.
